Jakub Tomáš (1982)  I'm interested

Jakub Tomaš is an outstanding figure in the Czech contemporary painting. He went through studios of the most important personalities in the second half of the 20th century, namely Vladimír Kokolia and Jiři Sopko. Later he stayed in London for one year and in recent times had a residential stay in France. From a very early age Tomáš was fascinated with drawing and later on with painting. A fundamental break in his painting happened in 2013, when he started to make spatial objects out of his painting. He now builds the composition of his painting as templates and from that creates visual leporellos. The flatness and two-dimensionality of painting suddenly disappears. With his painting Tomáš builds sceneries and refined scenes, which often require the attention of the spectator. Broad new possibilities open up for him in that way, which can transform  in a personal language and have followed a vivid and captivating process.
