Banksy
Banksy (1973?). The work of one of the most prominent contemporary artists with the pseudonym Banksy, whose real name and identity still remain unconfirmed and are the subject of speculation, has its roots in the Bristol underground scene of the 1990s. His legendary street art works created using the stencil technique have appeared on the streets of metropolises around the world. The use of stencils helps him minimize the time of creation, which stems from the illegal nature of street art and the need to create quickly. As he himself stated, he was led to this technique by a serial number sprayed using a stencil, which he noticed while hiding from the police under a truck. The artist, who is engaged in political activism, often reflects social themes in his works full of metaphors and hyperbole. Banksy creates his works mainly in publicly accessible places, his paintings and graphics appear very rarely on the art market.
