Attila Szűcs
In the last ten years, the Hungarian painter Attila Szűcs (1967) has joined a strong group of painters from Eastern Europe who have managed to establish themselves on the European and many also on the world stage. Szűcs’s work, full of unprecedented imagination and sensitivity, is based on a refined painting technique. In his works, he often works with unspoken phenomena and facts that draw the perceptive observer into the centre of events. Attila Szűcs has exhibited in many cultural capitals – Germany, Italy, Austria, and New York. The exhibition Specters and Experiments, which was organised by the Ludwig Museum in Budapest in 2016, was a major exhibition during which the author’s monograph was published. Attila Szűcs is rightly considered a fundamental figure of contemporary painting in Eastern Europe, represented in many private collections around the world.
