Mária Švarbová
Mária Švarbová (1988). The Slovak photographer, who has gained recognition in the international context for her distinctive style, focuses primarily on experimenting with space, colour and atmosphere in her photographs. Her photographs reflect her interest in architecture and public spaces of the socialist era. She transforms her visually clean, carefully composed scenes with modern freshness. The depicted person, often appearing detached with an absence of emotion, is precisely embedded in them and aesthetically connected to the surrounding space. The young artist, who is best known to the public for her still unfinished series called Swimming Pool, is the author of advertising campaigns for Apple and the Museum of Ice Cream in NYC and the holder of several prestigious awards – she is one of the Hasselblad Masters laureates and is also a member of the Forbes ‘30 under 30’ list.
