Anna Jožová
Despite the fact that Anna Jožová (1996) is only a recent graduate of Rony Plesl’s Glass Studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (in 2023), she has already had a very fruitful exhibition career and is considered one of the most interesting personalities of the young conceptual-design scene for her specific sophisticated handwriting. This is evidenced by her diverse commercial and government contracts. Among other projects, her trophy for the Global Champions Prague Playoffs in 2019, long-term cooperation with J&T Bank or the production of a special series of vases for 44 world leaders as a gift from Prime Minister Petr Fiala on the occasion of the European Union Summit at Prague Castle in 2022 can be mentioned. Anna Jožová’s work is very varied, but conceptually stable. Since 2018, she has been creating series of vases through which she touches upon the pressing issues of our time, mostly related to the sixth mass extinction of species and a critique of the anthropocentric worldview in which humanity persists despite its aware- ness of the fragility of the current climate situation. Her approach to her work is deeply conceptual, and when the chosen theme requires it, she embarks on innovative techno- logical experiments or completely leaves the field of design, fluidly sailing into the waters of free art. Jožová’s vases and art objects have been displayed at a number of domestic and international exhibitions and have become, for example, part of the third edition of the prestigious Venice Design Biennial (2021). They also appear in several important private collections and in the collection of the Moravian Gallery in Brno.
