Michal Škapa
Michal Škapa (1978). The artistic roots of Michal Škapa, also known under the pseudonym Tron, can be found in the environment of graffiti and street art, which shaped his artistic expression and are still evident in his approach today. The artist’s work has moved from the streets to gallery spaces, acquiring a deeper message and a more subtle expression, yet retaining the freedom and authenticity characteristic of the street art environment. Škapa’s work is mainly dominated by mural painting, often enriched by constructions made of neon tubes or various wires, which shift the form of the hanging painting towards an object with a relief look. The motif of the city and the urban landscape plays a crucial role in his work. The second major theme is also the work with writing, which is often transformed into an abstracting dynamic sign with encrypted content, and its intermingling and layering with the artist’s often detail-oriented expression leads to a condensation of the content and makes it harder to read.
