Miroslav Polách

Miroslav Polách (1980), a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, belongs to the strong generation of painters who entered the Czech art scene at the turn of the millennium. His work has evolved from a symbolic and often expressive position to a precise and chiselled form of realistic figurative painting. Polách proceeds in his work precisely and with extraordinary prudence. The situations depicted are the result of precise and thoughtful installations that serve as models for the final works. This is followed by deliberate post-production and then the painting itself, which is unusually technically and technologically demanding. Polách’s work is not a typical and increasingly popular hyperrealism, it is a realistic expression, carefully constructed and, above all, refined in content with a clear degree of exaggeration and situational irony. Polách often paints serious, even existential themes, which he is able to make accessible in a natural way.
