Zbyněk Sedlecký
The painter Zbyněk Sedlecký (1976) belongs to the strong generation that entered the Czech art scene at the turn of the millennium. He first received his art training at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno under the guidance of Jiří Načeradský and later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague under Jiří Sopko. His works thematise the relationship of place and time to the nature of human memory. The result is stylised, often deliberately blurred compositions that can give the impression of camera footage or obscured memories. The artist uses the traditional medium of hanging painting in a completely new way, which allows him to create his own, fully original artistic language. However, it is based on the traditional genre of figural composition, often conceived in a generous way. In his work, Sedlecký draws on real situations and moments, relies on the initial record of what is seen, and allows himself to be influenced retrospectively by mediated emotion.
